There has been a lot of discussion in forums about the necessity of buying a reverse osmosis water filtration system. Frankly speaking, I don’t think a RO system is necessary for everyone even though I am a strong support of it. If you are decided on whether you should install an RO system in your whole house, I have list down a few important reasons why you might need to. If you fall outside of those, then a RO might not be the solution for you.
#1: Health conscious
For the super health conscious, know this fact: there are over 80,000 possible chemical and toxins present in our water. If you think your normal water filter is going to take out most of these unhealthy chemicals, think again. A reverse osmosis system is the only proven way to effectively get rid of all these unwanted stuff in our water and make it pure for drinking.
However, most will feel living life in fear of such things is silly, just like worrying about breathing in unhealthy pollutants from the air. If you are in this camp, I strong suggest not getting a RO as you will not be seeing it main benefit.
#2: Better tasting water
One thing that normal water filters can’t give you is the quality of the taste. It taste really great especially when your city is providing hard water. It is hard to communicate the kind of taste through words alone. The best way to do this is through using the water to make coffee or tea. A coffee brewed using filtered water taste so much better than water that has lots of unwanted minerals. Try it for yourself to taste the difference!
#3: For use in humidifier to reduce impurities on surface
For those using humidifiers at home, you might want have notice a layer of dust settling in your home after a couple of uses. One reason is probably due to the tap water containing too much impurities, thus leaving some of them on the surface that they condense into.
In such cases, using reverse osmosis water will drastically reduce such impurities settling on your furniture. It is a usually benefit but one that is very clear to those who are suffering from such a problem.
#4: For salt water aquarium
Certain salt water aquarium requires no-phosphorus water to the sea salt to be added. The best way to get such quality water is through reverse osmosis. Other types of water filters simply aren’t good enough to take out the minerals to achieve the no-phosphorus state. If you have a salt water aquarium and high maintenance fish, have a RO system makes a lot of sense.
I hope the above makes it clear when buying a reverse osmosis water filtration system make sense for your family.
